Atmosphere Kolkata: Sky‑Bridged

Atmosphere Kolkata: Sky‑Bridged

Atmosphere rises along the EM Bypass in East Topsia as a bold expression of architectural imagination—twin towers united by a suspended sky‑sculpture named “Deya.” The project began around 2011, envisioning a new form of vertical residential drama, and was completed by 2021. Since then, it has stood as one of Kolkata’s most distinctive luxury addresses, delivering a sculptural aesthetic in parallel with high-end living.

Crafted by Forum Group with design led by the Singapore-based ARC Studio, Atmosphere spans nearly 152 meters and 39 floors across two towers. At their pinnacle floats “Deya,” a perforated, cloud-like structure made of steel mesh and reflective disks. This dynamic form shifts visually depending on light angles, achieving both artistic brilliance and residential functionality in a sky bridge that houses communal amenities.

“Deya” isn’t just ornamental—it’s a living space that embraces leisure and community. Suspended approximately 500 feet above ground, it accommodates a swimming pool, gym, spa, running track, virtual golf, cinema, meeting rooms, and function facilities. The porous textures of its mesh form blur the boundary between inside and open air, making Deya a shared sanctuary among the clouds—both dramatic and purposeful.

Residential offerings in Atmosphere are equally grand. The project spans around three acres in total, featuring over 80 apartments ranging from expansive five-bedroom homes with private terraces and gardens. The development balances elegance and exclusivity, drawing homeowners who see their abode as more than space—they want a piece of sky-bound art with their address.

As a cultural landmark, Atmosphere has inspired conversation and curiosity. It was even featured in a well-known documentary series on megastructures, spotlighting its creative ambition and technical sophistication. Locally, neighbors and passersby first recognize it for its bold form—some describing it as “cloud‑like” or “floating,” and often pausing in awe to take in the sight of that sky sculpture linking two towers.

While Atmosphere itself is complete, its ethos—melding striking design with luxury living—continues to influence what high-end real estate can mean in Kolkata. Forum Group’s success here has encouraged other developers to rethink vertical forms, shared amenities, and sculptural aesthetics. As the city grows upward, Atmosphere remains both precedent and promise for what comes next.

Looking ahead, the core idea of Atmosphere—a functional art piece in the sky—remains unmatched. Though no official successor has been announced, the ambition it brought to life is being echoed in new projects across the city’s growing neighborhoods. For those who imagine their home as a statement, Atmosphere remains the landmark of choice—and inspiration—for generations of designers and residents yet to come.
